July 6, 2015 - The Water Department pressure washing the tank on Lake Road. June 25, 2015 - Ontario Garden Club took time to plant around the newly installed Blue Star Memorial.  Many thanks to those actively beautifying our town.

May 12, 2015 - This water main pipe section was replaced as a result of a leak on Knickerbocker Road just north of the railroad tracks.  The holes evolved from what was likely just a small crack.  It is amazing what water pressure and flow can do to an iron pipe.

February 17, 2015 -  Middle of winter at Bear Creek Harbor.  Only a few more months until boats will be here.

February 11, 2015 - We are saddened to report the sudden passing of former Supervisor Roy Herrmann.  Roy was an extremely active member of the Ontario community giving much of himself in various volunteer endeavors.  Mr. Herrmann was also a WWII veteran.  Arrangement details forthcoming.

February 12, 2015 -
The Ontario Public Library experienced a large amount of water leaking in through the roof.  Ontario Highway employees Mike VanHoover, Steve Stewart, Gary Kotvis, Nick Arena, and Joe Herman worked diligently to fix the issue.   
January 12, 2015 -

The Ontario Town Board proudly recognized Norman R. Loomis, M.D. at their business meeting January 12, 2015 for his 60 years of service to the town with the presentation of a resolution memorializing his work.  As of December 31, 2014 he left formal public service as Health Officer to the Town. 

 Dr. Loomis has been a resident of Ontario since 1954 and is a World War II veteran of the United States

Navy.  For 42 years he was the town physician, he also served as physician for the Ginna Nuclear Power Station, and school physician for the Wayne Central School District. Norm has been an active member of the Ontario Walworth Rotary since November 1978 and is also an honorary lifetime member of the Wayne Central School District PTA. 

“Doc Loomis” has diligently served the residents and officials of the Town of Ontario and the County of Wayne in a loyal and dedicated manner.

January 9, 2015 - A look at winter in Ontario.   
December 29, 2014 - A steam turbine left Ontario’s Ginna Nuclear Power Station, traveling to North Carolina for remanufacture.  The unusual truck and trailer configuration is specially designed to handle the heavy load.  Some street signs were moved and overhead wires were lifted on the trip down N. Slocum Rd. to NYS Rt. 104.  Ontario Highway and Wayne County Highway assisted. 
December 23, 2014 - Repairing a leak at the Booster Station.    
November 24, 2014 - Wayne County Highway and several local towns, including Ontario, assisted with the massive clean-up operation in Buffalo,  Special thanks to Don LeDain, Nick Arena, and Scott Brower of Ontario Highway for volunteering to help. 
 November 21, 2014 -A motorist pulled into the side of a Town of Ontario 10 wheel plow truck on RT 104 & Fisher Road.  There were no injuries but the motorist's vehicle sustained heavy damage.  The front plow blade was scratched. 
I encourage all motorists to use extra caution around snowplows.

November 10, 2014 - Town of Ontario welcomes Sue's Little Pizza Shop at 1808 NYS Route 104.  November 10, 2014 - Town of Ontario welcomes Stan's Computer Repair at 2105B Ridge Road.  October 28, 2014 - The Water Department has begun cleaning debris at Dean Parkway. They will continue north in this same fashion.  
October 28, 2014 - Power line repair on Route 104 near Lakeside Road.  October 27, 2014 - Pipe lining of culvert under Ontario Center Road just north of Brick Church Road. Burrows Brothers will be lining the main pipe and adding hydraulic grout. Weather permitting work should be completed by October 31st. 
October 27, 2014 - The Highway Department is currently grinding the last year's worth of brush accumulation using a tub grinder.  October 22, 2014 - A fire hydrant on Ridge Road was replaced.    
October 23, 2014 - In the early morning hours a vehicle lost control and passed the stop sign on Knickerbocker Road & Lake Road.  The sedan traveled across the lawn of the Ontario Water Utilities treatment plant and eventually struck our parked and unoccupied water plant pick-up truck.  The sedan driver was taken to the hospital and the accident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.  Our insurance company has been notified.   
October 14, 2014 - Wilberts, Lakeside & RT 104, are well on their way to improving the property & expanding their business base.  October 14, 2014 - Supervisor John Smith joined Gerber in celebration of yet another expansion of the Gerber community of homes

September 30, 2014 - Cleaning and maintenance of a treatment filter system at the Waste Water Plant.  September 29, 2014 - Long overdue work to the baseball diamond at Casey Park. 
September 16, 2014 - Clyde Premo of the Water Department gets dirty at a water main leak!  Thanks Clyde.  September 3, 2014 - Members of the Town of Ontario Historical and Landmark Preservation Society were dismayed to learn that the 360 plus year old sugar maple tree adjacent to the Ruffell Log Cabin had a large branch fall.  The branch missed the cabin by only a foot or so.  The tree and cabin are part of the Heritage Square Museum, 7147 Ontario Center Road.  The tree was documented in 1996 to be the largest sugar maple tree in New York State and is one of the focal points of the museum.  The cabin, which dates to the 1860s, is one of the premier buildings at the museum. The Society has contacted a tree service company to determine whether the rest of the tree can be saved.  September 2, 2014 - These are some examples of routine repairs & maintenance done at our sewer plant under the direction of Chief Waste Water Plant Operator Scott Tozier. The clarifying unit was drained, cleaned, a bracket manufactured/replaced, as well as a bearing serviced.  
August 27, 2014 - The Ontario Water Utilities Department is working on their annual fire hydrant flushing.  Work begins at Lake Road and extends east and west in either direction from the plant.   Once complete their focus shifts to the south, into town and the south side of town.   Stevens Street - A process called wedging that builds shoulders of road without removing the crown. It is the first step before chip sealing in 2015.   Railroad Crossing at Furnace Road - Subsurface was replaced. New stone & asphalt was put down for smoother crossings. Ontario Highway was subcontracted for excavation/paving.  Work continues on Advance Auto Parts. Opening is anticipated early Fall 2014.

July 18, 2014 - At 7:48am, Town of Ontario seasonal employee Connor Hollenbeck was operating the Ontario Parks & Recreation Departments 2003 one-ton dump truck on Rt 350 in the Town of Walworth when he lost control. The truck left the road and over turned in the ditch at 4621 Ontario Center Road. Hollenbeck was not injured but was cited for no seatbelt. The truck appears to be a total loss. Our insurance company was notified.  July 21, 2014 - The Highway Department chip sealing Berg Road.

  April 28, 2014 - Progress on the Timothy Lane Extension. Spanning from Dean Parkway east behind Harbeck to AP Enterprises on the farm lane from Rt. 104.  
 April 21, 2014 - Scott Brower, Steve Stewart, Nick Arena, and Steve Amsler from the Highway Department worked to repave Hollybush Lane & Laurelwood Way. An '86 Freight Liner & Low Boy Trailer is how heavy equipment is moved. The paver was rented from All County Construction. 
January 2, 2014 -  at approximately 3:30am a Town of Ontario plow truck caught on fire on Ontario-Walworth Road, near Paddy Lane. The driver, Gary Kotvis was able to safely stop the vehicle and get out unharmed. Ontario Fire Company was the first responder. The cause is still being investigated and the insurance company has been notified. Town of Marion has loaned a truck for the interim as replacement possibilities are investigated.
